Learning and Research Skills:

Learning and Research  Skills are the core skills and attributes that tertiary students need to acquire to succeed in their academic work. Do you know all the learning and research skills that you need? Have a look at the list below:

Learning Skills Adviser assist you with the skills outlined above                                        

Research Skills

  • How and where to start your topic
  • Effective use of databases and internet
  • Finding evaluating and incorporating the information
  • Use the library's collection
  • Organize information
  • Apply the information to answer the research question
  • Communicate their knowledge

 

Subject Librarians assist you with the skills above as well as finding library resources such as books, journals, newspapers etc.

 Support regarding Learning and Research Skills is offered to students as per the list below:

Drop-in Sessions 10-15 minutes        

Longer individual consultation to 60 minutes

  • Meet briefly with the learning Skills Advisor to discuss the assignment or academic skills needs
  • Learning skills drop-in sessions operate from throughout the year
  • Monday - Friday 

  

    By appointment for:

  • Students referred by the Faculty
  • In special cases  - requests by  the individual  student
  • The possibility of small study groups

An arrangement with the lecturer, Learning Skills Adviser AND Subject Librarian
